November 8, 2002: 15 weeks

So I just had my visit with the OB dr... erm... well... he lied to me. He made it sound like that he would let me have an ultrasound at every visit. Now he tells me that I get 2 and that's it and that I've already used my 2 up. GRR Had I known I would have saved my 2nd one for this visit when I could see more! Last visit we didn't see much at all! So he said he'd disregard the first one and let me have my next one at 30 weeks! GEE! That's like.. in 2003! He didn't even remember me this time. He always used to remember me but this visit he didn't know that I already had blood drawn, etc.

So first was weight and blood pressure.. I gained 200 grams and the nurse was like.. you haven't gained at all! And the dr said that I hadn't gained as much as he'd like... but I reminded him I have 'extra padding' to begin with. He said as long as I'm taking my vitamins and eating that it's ok.

We made out a list of questions for this visit.. Peter and I. Well we only got a couple answered. I didn't get around to asking the others. We have our next visit in December.. the 6th I think?

One good thing. We finally got to HEAR the heartbeat and not just see it on the ultrasound. He used a doppler thing and at first I didn't believe it was the baby's. The dr then shifted and we heard mine. My was a slow pounding and then he went back to the baby and it was so fast!! Peter thought it was cool as well! Sadly we didn't bring anything to tape it but the dr says he does that at every visit from now on so we'll tape it next time.

Right now Peter is on the phone trying to get us an ultrasound appointment for today where we can pay for it. I really expected to get one today so we will try and make that happen. it's like $30 or something if you pay for it... I say it's worth it. I'm sure Peter will pay that to calm me down haha! We also found out about getting a 3D ultrasound as well...

well Peter just came in. 10 week waiting list to get an ultrasound at that place. I could scream. I need this! So I will be 25 weeks when I get one and the dr does one at 30. yep.. I could spit fire.. or bullets. I wouldn't be so mad if the dr hadn't practically promised to give us one this visit. If I had known that I wouldn't get one, I'd be ok with it. But I've been thinking about it every night how I'd get to see the baby soon.

Life isn't fair. Now I'm thinking.. hmmm I wonder how I can go about getting an ultrasound in the US when I visit. I'll be 21-23 weeks when we're there... anyone know how much they charge in the US for one if you pay for it?

I better go calm down now.

Follow up...
Peter found a place in a town about a 2 hr drive away that will give me a 3D ultrasound with video and cdrom of pictures for about $120 (€120) and he's ok with that price. We are hopeful to find out if it's a boy or a girl this way as well.

I'm happy again! Now.. time to eat!
